|Our flock here in Cove Orchard began in 2006 with a mixed breed originating back to Troy's Grandfather William Baimbridge
of Elkton, OR. (Baimbridge Ranch) Unfortunately grandpa passed away shortly after we relocated here in mid-2004. We've
been refining our breed/s over the last several years to produce a better and leaner meat, while maintaining quality wool.
Texel and Border Leicester breeds make up the majority of our flock the rest are cross breeds. Texels proving to produce
leaner muscle meat and a larger loin eye through carrying the myostatin gene. They are very efficient at turning their feed
into lean muscle. The fiber off our Texels works amazing for needle felting, in addition to spinning and some wet felting. Our
Border Leicester's dual purpose offer great meat production, and some phenomenal wool, highly sought after by hand
spinners and felter's. These great foraging breeds have excelled well on our less than ideal acreage. As we continue forward,
we will let the many dictating factors direct our breeds of choice and stocking numbers.
